996 tt advise please
Discussion
Guys.
The car was feeling a bit strange today. Not too sure in technical terms how to describe it, so please excuse.
Normally whilst accelerating hard, there is the usual bit of lag and then the power comes but 'relativly' gradually with the boost developing to 0.9-1bar(Roock 500 ecu). Today - it seemed like there was much more lag then usual and then all the power came at once!!?? In fact I had barely enough time to change gear before it hit the limiter. It felt much quicker than usual,in fact it felt savagely quick.
When cruising on the motorway in 6th, and then having given it some, it lagged then boosted from 3000 to 6500rpm almost wildly before I got worried and backed off. ( Before you ask I was definately in 6th not 4th.)
The car was completely thrashed yesterday on a burn. Has this just 'woken up' the ECU and am I being a pussy? (usually poodling along motorways and cities)Or is there something fundamentally wrong?? No warning lights??
Not that I mind the car being quicker but it definately feels different from other times.
Any advise appreciated
Thanks

Ok - now there feels like there is no power when boosting. As stated above the clutch needs replacing. But what is the deal with the variation in quotes £ 1380-2200???
Is it really that labour intensive and does the engine need removing???
Also any recommendations on where to get the 996tt clutch done in the London / Watford area, and what is the best price??
Worth considering upgrading the clutch??
Any advise again appreciated

well it all depends on how you use your car if you use it on track alot and give the clutch lots of abuse then i would recommend upgrading it but if you dont then i wouldnt bother upgrading as it would be just wasting money.Edited by rimmer on Wednesday 23 May 15:24

If you want your clutch doing & i know its out of your way (Silverstone) . Go to Fearnsport & speak to Dom.
They will use proper Porsche parts if you want & they are very well priced. They look after a chap i know with a CGT & my humble 996 C4 If there is something else not right with the car they will find it.
