Public perception of Ferrari improving..??
Discussion
Don't wish to sound pompous, but seeing as the Murcie is back where it was built I've been tramming around in the 360. I haven't really driven it for a while, but I've been surprised by the amount of thumbs up, and positive hand signals, which I never used to see much.
I think especially a while back the Ferrari name suffered a bit with over marketing of its accessories etc and it didn't reflect well on the marque. But I think its really come back again now. Great to see. Thoughts?
And I forgot what a really great car the 360 is. Still ache for me Murcie tho

I think of all marques, I think the Ferrari is the most sensitive to colour choises... I found the Rosso Ferrar really did attract a lot of negative attention however no red ones seem to shout "look at my Ferrari" a whole less.
Hhhmmm, I think it is changing actually. I remember in the late 80's and early 90's when lots of money was floating about, if you saw a Fezza or 911 it'd be a good bet that it was owned my someone who knew nothing about cars, just that they were the car to buy. They had all the branded sunglasses, shirts and pants probably, but you knew that if they every navigated out of the city, the first ditch they found would welcome them with open banks (if you see what I mean).
Those days are mostly over (well for Fezza's anyway
). I suppose there's still a few people about with the old hangup who haven't moved on.
That said I still have the hangup over the branded stuff..... Those tea shirts are to try to enrich the lives of people that can't afford the cars, not for the real owners! See, told you I had a problem

. Was speaking to my boss who said that his Aston DB9 gets massive positive reaction - kids wave, people smile and lots of appreciating nods.
I know that's not Ferrari, but I thought I would share.
Different marques are always going to promote different reactions. That said, I think there are certain parts of the UK where any 4x4 would get you cursed at, but that's only by the idiots of this world. The RX-8 I had for a year was a bigger polluter than my in-law's Rangey!
Aston gets an excellent reaction - Ferrari can shout "Hey world - I'm a little flash!!", but I think colour has a lot to do with it (red == bad), but for a real experience in crappy reaction, drive a 911. Nobody lets you in in traffic, you never get thanked when you let someone out and god-forbid you should overtake someone! They think you are a real jumped-up hooligan!

Simon, on a completely off topic request...
I see in your profile 'Subway Restaurants'...
Can you bring Subway to Santaigo de Compostela (Spain)...
PLEASE.
These gimps dont know how to make proper sarnies.
But back on topic.
If I see a ferrari (when Im back in the UK), I always try and give it the thumbs up but a few owners seem oblivious or just stare dead ahead.

Forget where I read it but Lamborghini (Audi) are intending on massively growing the amount they make from merchandising so expect to see a load more raging bull products coming out which will unfortunately devalue the brand a little.
Think thats a shame. I love the recent ad by Lamborghini showing the 6 old men chatting all with headphones on. All it says underneath is 'Welcome to Sant'Agata home of Lamborghini'

Back off topic again - Oi Rob No! You can't blight Santiago with a Subway (No offence meant Simon)
Where on earth would you put it? In the middle of the Paris-Dakar?!? Far too many good restaurants in there to worry about having a sandwich!

yessss - they may well be, but that's all relative to the start point of how much branded stuff is produced at the moment! Ferrari branded goods must equal a sizeable %age of Maranello's income figures year on year - Sant' Agata would have to travel incredibly deeply into a really dreadful chav-branded hell to match that level of extra-dosh coming in!
Imagine hordes of kids at car shows or your local shopping outlet massive mall fandango dressed head to foot in Lambo-kit, carrying posters of Valentino sliding a Murciélago Roadster around Modena with cooler-than-cool Lambo shades on and some Lambo-branded replacement carbon fibre front teeth or else imagine Simon's skin-and-blister, (who is very popular with the workforce on the Gallardo line or so I'm told... by Simon...), sitting in a Gallardo Superleggera (with a Lambo / Subway branded paintjob) and wearing a big-peak hat with "I Love Murciélago Flava Subs!" all over it...
bloody hell, it's been an odd day - anybody would think Artimarca Lamborghini had started selling clear plexiglass magazine holders or ... hang on a mo' - they already do!!

In the building I work and live (Area Central) there is a large shop downstairs that HAD a 'Subwayesque' place, it was NOWHERE near as good. The other people who have tried Subway really want this because its next to our place of work...so it would be busy ALL day and night.
So Simon, send me an email if you are interested in feeding our company !

Curiously during my 6 years with Ferraris I never had anything other than positive public reaction.
The Lambo gets a much more hostile reaction in my expierance.
Especialy from old duffers who seem to think you are being reckless and going to kill several of their comrades and grandchildren all whilst trickling along at 15mph!
Conversely in a Nissan Micra you can go 40mph in a 20mph school zone provided you have grey hair and are wearing tartan somewhere on you in perfect safety apparently.
Maybe because Lamborghini is less well know by non car buffs???

I've only had my Lambo for a short time and I've had quite a few bad reactions; people swearing at me, leaving rubbish on the car, totting horns when I over take etc etc!
Converseley I do get some good reactions but they tend to be too in your face, everyone wants to talk to me at the lights especially boy racers, taking photos, videoing the car the list goes on! Oh and the one my misses liked the most was getting a table at a fully booked restuarant becuase the owner liked it! lol

Sometimes it can get a bit much, good job it's not my daily driver!
