High beam, low beam fixed.

This bloody nonsense has been such a PITA that I figured
I'd pass on a possible remedy in case some poor soul suffers
the same fate.

As things turned out, the relay that controls the two beams is
exactly like a North American standard relay, plug/recepticle included...
so I bought one... waste of money, that wasn't the problem.

As it turns out, on the side of the relay rack, there's two diodes plugged
into the side of the rack... in my case, with orange wiring. A wire had broken
off and a butt connector and a new terminal crimped on did the trick.

NOTE: if you reinsert the diode backwards, only one beam comes on, just spin it around
and it'll have both beams.

I was pulling my hair out trying to diagnose this, so I pray somebody will benefit from
my frustration.

Yesterday both light pods rose.... today only one does. (then closes immediately) I guess I'm still only half way to
solving a simple headlight solution.

I wish I had have flown to the UK and inspected this myself instead of having a "pro" do it for me
as there's no bloody way in hell I'd have bought this thing...caveat lector I guess.

I guess OTOH, I'll have the "joy" of hands-on knowedge gaining and self-schooling in electrical
gremlins and at the same time, anger management.

Does the pod go up and down continuously if so I had a similar problem after putting my car back into use after a suspension rebuild taking about a month. The grease in the headlight motor had dried and was activating the switches incorectly. Light stop it when warm i.e. had to get home so drove with flashing light and suddenly it stopped only to restart next use but did eventually stop completly.

At the present time, the right pod's not moving, the left raises then lowers and shuts off.

It's just a bit more than I expected, and have discovered,

par for the course. OTOH, it took a day to sulk. laugh:

The whole experience has left me determined to make the blue beast

into a nuch better car....even if it take a few years. Provided the

powertrain remains strong so I can dump my free money into other things,

I'm going to make this the best wedge ever.



Fixing the existing poor electrical system is a band-aid solution.

I'd rather replace entire ciruits where possible.



As for this weekend, provided it's not raining, in goes an MSD 6a ignition system

a MSD coil, and the healight pods are coming out to see how I can mount/fabricate rx7 FC

motors to work them. Just judging by the size of each car's motors, I'd not be surprised

if they were 6 ouches lighter, thus less weight.
