Now, I have only driven before for 10 mins round Sainsbury's car park where I didn't get past 3rd gear, and on a long stretch of road, near the A3 that looks like a disused road but it isn't, went round that a couple of times. Generally if hubby is in the car he won't relinquish the wheel to me.

We are going away for the weekend on Friday to Chichester and hubby has told me as he is having a drink, I will have to drive to the New Forest from Chi, so I think I had better get some experience.

Wish me luck

P.S Where is reverse?

Just handbrake it in to the space. You'll be fine. Jut remember to put the clutch down as you spin the wheel and yank on the handbrake otherwise you'll stall and look silly. hehe

You got me confused, I had an idea where reverse was but I still got my son to stand behind me and tell me when the reverse lights came on. (Top Right)

Bit of a hairy moment actually getting of the drive, as I live on a sharp bend, and being so low I couldn't see what was coming round the corner, cue son standing on the opposite side of the road and telling me when to go.

I arrived with the car in one piece, although I will admit to going from 2nd to 5th a few times.paperbag

I can see me driving it a lot more. hehe

Just spoken to him, and his partner came on the phone, and said please don't take it again, his mind has been elsewhere and he's been quiet all day!

I haven't driven a manual car in about 10 years, my daily drive is an automatic Disco TD5, which I have managed to put a dig in every panel. (None of them my fault hehe) So it's no surprising he was a little worried.

I came home the scenic route, and I managed it in all the right gears. smile

Hubby has done the cursory walk round the car to check for marks, and has now taken it for a spin, talk about marking his territory. laugh

Well done. I need to get a crowbar to get the keys off my other half. Driving to work is pointless as I have to park in the smallest multi-storey in the world and couldn't swing the Cerb's nose without doing damage. I used to take the Chim to school, I never had a moments problem in or out of the classroom.

Keep it shiny side up.
