I was there
was it me or was the organisation terrible?
my hotel was pretty poor (not 4* in my opinion) and the air conditioning was broken the whole weekend
the racetrack was 3 hrs from the hotel and the coach driver got lost!
the Sat night dinner was a joke - hardly any food at all
however, the cars on show made up for all of the above

I did'nt do the factory organised thing as I wanted to stay in Bologna. I went to the Saturday night do at the factory though. I have to admit things did seem a little, shall we say, shambolic? The thing that saved the night was the Japanese trio dancing like loonies to the band.
For me, the best car was the "new" Miura Jota in reception. This belongs to a guy in London who commisioned it to be built 12 years ago from the original plans. I spoke to Bob Wallace who is going to give it it's maiden drive when it gets to the UK.
The Gallardo looks even better the second time around.
By the time I manage to get a third look at the UK preview and the forth when I pick mine up I should be totaly in love.
Tony - quite a few cars had driven down from the UK. I saw a number of Countach's and Diablo's, an Espada, a Silhouette and a 400GT. Some people had these transported down as you say.
Most of the cars at the event were Swiss and German. The cars on show that stood out included 3 yellow Countach LP400's, a Diablo Roadster with Reflex green paint, green leather and yellow carpets (ugh!), a lime green Diablo GT, the Jota replica Miura that Claude points out (what a noise!) and a Countach QV with Nitrous injection!
Claude - do you know the owner, Piet, of the Jota? As you say the car has been a long time in the making. I reckon it cost in excess of £300k to build. The attention to detail was amazing - eg. the tyres were Avon slicks with a hand cut tread pattern to match the original! P.S. when/where is the UK preview of the Gallardo?

Craig-Sadly,I don't know the guy but you have to admire his resolve in pushing a project like that forward. I understand that the cost was indeed about the £300k mark. That is serious devotion isn't it? I guess though it could take you twelve years for the right Jota to come up for sale considering there are precious few of them. One would cost about £300k plus at auction now as well I suppose. This car, whilst having no providence could'nt really be called a replica either could it?
I'm told by Lamborghini London that they are to show the Gallardo some time during the summer. Give them a call and get on their invite list. Better still, stump up the £5k deposit. It's worth it as the deposit is refundable up to the time you see it at the preview anyway.
