How many people actually turn up to watch the 24hour at Silverstone??
I was talking to someone over the weekend and they said that when the first Britcar 24 was held at Silverstone only a handful of people turned up to watch?
Thinking back to last year when I was in one of the support races there wernt that many people around? and from wht I remember Silverstone didnt allow camping over the weekend and not much was open....?

It does some times seem that the race going public regard any kind of endurance racing as for the competitors - it goes on too long for the average punter who only does 30 min soaps on TV.
I dont think there have been significant crowds at FIAGT or LMES races on their own merits for ages and Britcar is not (yet) an international force even.
You'll get more for the exotica on show but still not a huge crowd.
In the UK we just don't seem to have the same love of 1000km races as in, say, Belgium where huge crowds turn up for the Spa 1000kms as its a local tradition.
The thousands who go to Le Mans are not going to go to Silverstone in September (incl the PH gang) - not the same weather, craic or the same spectacle even - sadly.
All power to James Tucker but ultimately EERC seem to be providing a place to go and race - not necessarily a spectator event.
the crowd at Brands were not there for Britcar - sadly they'll be BTCC or F1 fans - they need a shorter fix!

Totally agree - but sadly JT does not see it that way and is trying very hard to make this a spectator event..the crowd at Brands were not there for Britcar - sadly they'll be BTCC or F1 fans - they need a shorter fix!

Im sure Castle Combe will make up for the lack of numbers but i still feel the races could have been spread over the two days in july as sunday will be by far the busier day,then again there is a full afetrnoon of racing the saturday of the meeting so you never know

which cud have the biggest grid of the day unless Britcar manages to fill all 42 grid slots
