Chaps, odd query here - around 54-plate ish the Rangie got the Jag navigation, venture cam and supposedly the 4.4 Jag V8, replacing the earlier BMW equipment.

I'm currently in the market for a V8 Rangie, and have found one at an independant, still with LR warranty left, V8 Vogue etc etc, but the garage thinks it's the BMW V8. Was there a bit of crossover on the spec? Did the nav and so on appear before the engine changed? Or has the poor chap just got confused as they're both 4.4's and he has therefore assumed it's the BMW one?

Thinking of all that, if I go and see the car, how can I tell which engine it is?!

Cheers for you help.

Pretty certain the face lift carries the Jag engine, which i think is from 55 model onwards

Cheers for you help.

But there's quite a lot of 54-plate cars around with the touchscreen nav and venture cam etc.....???

The easiest way to tell is from the face lift.Later ones had different front lights. These were the jag engined ones.

So what this implies is there were two if not three changes within a year or 18 months? First the new interior navigation etc, then the Jag engine and six speed box, and then the Terrain Response system from the Disco?

Looking around at reviews of the Jag engined ones, the demo models seem to be on 54-plates...

I'm now totally confused, as two different main stealers have given me two different answers...

So I had a good look at these a while ago and came to the following conclusion.

SatNav facelift aroung 54 plate-easy way to tell is if the buttons on the nav unit have one or two logos.
One logo=facelift.

Jag engine came on the 06 model which is easier to spot as the "gills" on the side now have three rather than two pieces and the new headlights bulge out into the grill. also gets 6 speed auto and is a tad more economical.

Plenty about and a great place to sit....

However I was quoted nearly £1800 to renew the warranty after it expires which is twice as much as Porsche charge!

Right, that's good to know, was just about coming to the same conclusion myself - seems odd to have had two facelift/kit changes in quite such quick succession, but I guess it was all part of disentangling themselves from the remnant of the BMW co-operation.

Interesting quote on the warranty - the only dealer I queried about it quoted me £900-1000 or thereabouts on a 54-plate V8...
