Hi all - I noticed the other day that the inside surface of one of my rear discs is all rusty and rough - it looks as if it's never been troubled by a pad!

The pads are not worn out - what could have caused this do you think?

Thanks

Andy.

Did you get any brake pull?

no friction on the disc is weird. Discs do rust up quickly, I guess it was still there after a drive?

Caliper piston seized or caliper slides seized??

Also check you haven't lost the friction material on the brake my bro had a brake disintegrate on one side once.

If the discs are rusty, it means the pads aren't pushing against it, which means the pistons in the calliper are seized, strip it down, clean it and fit new seals.

And will I need to get the disc skimmed or will it clean off once the pad is working?

Once they start working the disc will soon clean up.
