Picked up my VXR Friday. On Monday the heater hose started leaking where it's rubbed through on the cylinder head so it's cold turkey for me. Happened to anyone else?

Wicked car though.

Any idea what the cure is guys? It's at a dealer waiting for a new hose but is there a mod to stop it happening again?

Had to laugh. I've come from a MG ZT260(V8) & near enough the same thing happens on them.

The good news is that this is the only similar fault.......your fuel pump wont fall apart etc and no speed limiter so proper tuners can work on them Have an MG ZT260 too, not in the same league are they!

I believe it's just cable-tied up out the way, as simple as that - I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if i'm wrong.

No, the Monaro's like the ZT's Big Brother, but I plan to hang onto both

The pipe is wrapped in anti-chaffe material and a 'pad' stuck to the block where it rubbed.

Thanks for that. I'll see what my local (non-VXR) dealer does. Sounds like I can mod it myself if they don't.

That's the link. My quick fix (still OK) was to file down a severely sharp machined edge on the end of the O/S cylinder head and cable tie the 2 hoses to the clutch master cylinder. Before anyone gets twitchy, I haven't had any problems with the clutch fluid over-heating but that's another thread....type that's been beaten to a pulp!

Do you also do "anti-CHAV" material for recently discussed Monaro... hehe

Yep, it's gone next to the bulkhead after rubbing on the edge of the cylinder head. When first looking for the leak I noticed the other issue too though, where the lower pipe sits on top of that silver bolt in the chassis rail - didn't look too clever to me.

When I get it back I'll be doing a few mods of my own involving files, cable ties etc!

Been three days now. Long time to go without, isn't it.

I cut a short length of rubber hose and slipped it over the thread of the pointed subframe bolt that pokes through the chassis
