Nottingham have a Dec 98 996 C2, 39000 miles and (presumably) to OPC standards with OPC warranty (although not for much longer at that age).

2 of the options listed are:

'Sports Package' and 'Sports Chassis' - anyone know what these options entailed? Does it mean it will have a PSE, sports seats, is the 'Sports Chassis' merely the M030 suspension or something else as well?

Tempted to go and have a look at it - although I realise I could buy an identical car outside OPC for a lot less...

ETA: It's up at £29,995 for them that woz wundering

So are 'Sports Package' and 'Sports Chassis' actually the same option listed twice?

PM me the full spec if you don't mind (mileage, history, OPC warranty?, PSE?) - I was supposed to be waiting 6 months but getting the 'itch' again...

If I remember correctly there were 2 options regarding the 'Sportiness' of the early 996 models.

1. Sports Suspension

2. Sports Chassis

1. Was a lowered set of springs and different dampers (I think)

2. Was as above but with a LSD - again I think.

I had a 1998 C2 Cab with Sports Chassis back in the days and it had a low/stiff ride and defintiely had a LSD.

Hope that helps....

I would be amazed if they had paid anymore than £20k for that car... Would probably get one from an indie for £24k.

I suspect you are right, if I'm honest I'm only really tempted to look to see if it really is that much better than what I can get indie/private. Which when you bear in mind it will be soon be too old for OPC warranty I find hard to believe....

The main thing that spraked my interest was those sports options - my next 996 will be black or seal grey, will have M030 suspension and will have a sports exhaust (obviously all except colour can be retrofitted pretty easily).

Oh, and if anyone has one for sale meeting that spec it must be a manual C2 as well! Just trying to get a feel for the market after 12 months away from 996 ownership (but as I'm looking at £25K-£32K I might be able to hold on and get facelift of course).

I think the Sports Package on that age car would include the GT3 Aerokit, Sports Susp & Sports Seats.

Will have to wait until they upload some photos.

I am considering selling mine. It is a March 1999 C2 manual. Ocean Blue, black leather interior. Sports chassis (M030), hardbacked sports seats, PSE fitted in March with the switch. Had a full glass out respray in Jan after a vandal scratched every panel plus a new screen. Its has full OPC history and an OPC warranty until March 08 which can then be extended for a further year. It had a new gearbox in April (under warranty), new clutch 10k ago. It has also had new MAF, new coolant tank, new front and rear drop links. Nokia car kit, 76000 miles, side airbags, electric roof, rear wiper and unmarked 18” GT3 wheels (OEM ordered with the car new). Upgraded factory hi-fi..new discs and pads all round last year (5000 miles ago)there is more but I cant remember. I would want £25k….
