Hotel / credit card charge question
Discussion
Just after a few opinions from the legal minded...
A couple of months ago I booked a hotel in Atlantic City using a reputable UK website. Reservation was confirmed, which included a price per room. Entered credit card details online, received a couple of e-mails that I printed off.
Checked into the hotel towards the end of March. Showed the staff the confirmation e-mails and they enquired whether it had been paid. I wasn't sure (hadn't received CC statement) and it didn't indicate on the paperwork. Receptionist consulted manager, made phonecall and confirmed it was paid (2 rooms). Stayed there, gambled away a bit of money and left the next morning... All forgotten.
Yesterday two charges appeared on my CC statement. I looked back and couldn't see the original payment, so seems fair, but the price is ~£50 per room higher than the cost on my confirmation e-mail. Looks like they've realised the mistake and charged rack rate.
Further, the credit card I used expired end 04/07.
Any idea on the best course of action? Hotel, website, CC company?

I'd say website first to get all the facts straight, then if necessary the hotel, and if that doesn't work, with cc last of all
You should speak to the CC as they will put the charge in dispute and freeze interest payments on it.Andy
