Hi Guys,

I'm looking for somone who is mobile and can tune these carbs in the chelmsford area. I have them on a 2.0 pinto powered kit car. it hasn't passed its SVA so i want somone who is mobile. The last guy i tried had his anaylser pack up the morning he was supposed to come round and that was a few weeks ago. I'm now still waiting on a call back and its starting to get fustrating, to the point where i have pretty much given up on the chap.

All i really want to know is if the car can get down to its 1200ppm particulates and 3.5% co. im not looking for a full on race tune. for now all i want is the base requirements of the test met but mention 'kit car' and 'multiple barrel carbs' and people loose interest very quickly.

In reality anyone with a 4 gas analyser can do more than I want. I know what bits to twiddle and have the balancer and a few spare jets!

Cheers

Try asking the same question on here... http://www.westfield-world.com/EssexArea/

I am sure there will be someone on there who can help.

i dare say you managed to find someone now and i'm not sure if they are mobile but they might know someone who is, try mowats. they're located just behind alton garden centre off the a127. the road they are in is right opposite the dick turpin. think it's pound lane?

i've had a webber carb tuned by them in the past and the difference was amazing. this was only a twin choke on a 1.3 ford escort but it would hold it's own with much more powerful cars.

No, i still haven't managed to find someone. i have conceded myself to the fact i will just have to take a chance at the SVA. I have been to mowatts a few times and the guys are always helpful. the issue is getting there. it would be a trailer job for me and i think that would just make it too expensive.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

isn't there something about a solid tow bar and displaying the plate of the towing car on the back of the one being towed that will allow you to do it? i'm sure a quick call to the traffic dept of the local plod will answer it for you. i've called them before when i wanted to know something. they were very helpful and glad that i'd asked rather than just doing it. plus if you can do this, a solid towbar is only about £20. then you've always got it for another time. worth looking in to.

You insipred me to think of a similar way around the problem and I now have this sorted. I remembered shepards did a lot of racing and are only about a mile away so spoke to them to see if they could collect. In the end they just drove it round and drove it back. But its all done and i had them look at a few other bits whilst they were there.
