I thought that I'd give the Cerb the kill-or-cure treatment regarding the noise I've been having....

I took it out for a 30 mile blat, during which the noise got worse and worse.

It finally got to the point where I was genuinely concerned, so I diverted to my parents' house, which was't too far away.

By this point the car was sounding like a bag of bolts in a washing machine, so I was happy to make it there without anything going bang.

When I tried to start the car 5 minutes later, the starter motor made a completely different noise to usual and just decided to run at high speed for about 3 minutes.

So i'm guessing that the started motor has died!

Next question - is it possible to change the starter motor without getting under the car?

The starter motor comes out the top between the windscreen scuttle plate and the engine.

I see yours is a 4.5 like mine!

You'll need to remove the purple pipes and the fuel rails to do this.

Good Luck! (it really is quite easy) instructions can be found on this forum or even the Cerbera Register. Do a search and you'll find it.
