Well having blown her up at brunters - stuck her back together with sticky tape and glue. The new engine from pro-9 www.pro-9.co.uk/ - EMC Engines www.emcengines.com/ is now ready to be fitted

Reliable race spec engine, plus competition clutch are going in next week.

So car should be ready in plenty of time for the next bruntingthorpe run with oodles of power

It's off to then on sunday for work to commence and will be away for the week - aaarrggghhhh a week to wait.

Did not know your engine blew - how old was it (miles) ?

Could you give some more specs of your new engine ?

Cam shaft oil seal blew at Brunters - was on 126k - but the blow was no real surprise as the engine has never had any proper work done on it most of its working life. it was switched off quick when the seal blew but to late to stop a fair amount of internal damage.

Dont have full specs available but see the emc website for details, fully lightened and balanced, lightened flywheel - cranks etc, but retaining the balance shafts (a compromise for road use), and a absolute bargain at 1.5k - 2k including the fitting.

Approx 188bhp standard can be tuned to over 200, bearing in mind mine is only a 2.5 lux n/a not a turbo

Also putting in a competition clutch to get rid of that stupid porker one that i keep ripping the center out of

Good luck with the new engine, how much weight have they shaved from the crank and fly wheel?

Will you still be running the standard intake manifold, air/throttle control flap and DEE control unit? I only ask as I've come across quite an interesting article in an old copy of CCC sugesting the manifold is a bit restrictive and that getting a decent ecu would liberate more power. As far as ECU's go I assume they are refering to a programable Emareld or similar style unit .

Sorry about the spanish inquisition, but after a chat with a guy from a local machine shop regarding maybe some work on my spare cylinder head its got me thinking and my wallet is getting worried!

Initially running standard but once the engine is bedded in then ecu and airflow meter will be swapped out - i will have to check up on the inlet manifold

Glad to see you are back in the hooning mode, I look fwd to having a COMPLETE run at the next Brunters meet, not choking on a smoke infested cabin and some professional tuition to boot!

No problem chap - will have it run in and tweeked to the max by the next brunters

BTW if you want tuition at any time - you should book with rob (guy that was with me) and do a track day with him

dontlift, do they keep the balance shaft belts on then for the track engine? I drove a Turbo not long ago that felt a bit lumpy on idle but fine in normal thrashing, later discoverd it diddnt even have a balance shaft belt as it has been shredded ages ago, I'd be tempted to run without the belt, you dont want to give those bhps away to the god of power losses after all

In the full race jobbies they do take the balance shafts out - however given mine is 50+% for the road they have recommmended i retain the balance shafts.

EMC have just phoned all back together runs great - sounds great etc, but new clutch isnt engaging properly......... they have ordered a new one in for this afternoon, and are going to work overtime to try and get it done tomorrow for me (Sat) but if they cant get the flywheel rebalanced today / tomorrow morning then it will be monday.

I know it will be worth it in the end - but i wanna play.
