Hey guys,

I've been lurking around here for the past few days, I am considering buying an RS6 in the next few months this one here looks pretty good:-

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/173731.htm

I have a few questions and would like some advice please.

What can I expect to get for about £31k-ish?

Are there any buyers guides around?

What are general running costs like?

How reliable are they?

Are there specific problems associated with these cars( I'm not planning on modding it or adding more power)?

If so what are they, how much are these issues to fix and can they be done via the warranty?

How long is the manufactures warranty and how much is an after market warranty?

Are then specific things I need to look out for whilst looking/test driving and RS6 other then normal things with any used car?

How does the RS handle, I am coming from a Lotus Elise S2 111r so am not too used to electronic gadgetry kicking in all the time, and handling is key to me, more so then outright power?

Thanks in advance, I know this is allot of questions....

PS the other car i am considering is the BMW M3 CSL so have posted the equivalent questions on the CSL board....

Cheers!!!!

You can't compare the handling to a Lotus. Totally different ballgame. If that's the most important thing to you then don't buy one.
Every other question you have has been asked and answered before. Personally I think they're fantastic.

goto www.rs246.com for all the info you need

they handle great for a 1900Kg estate car...in fact point to point in anything other than dry conditions, you will be going faster than in your Elise wink

BUT

its not a sportscar by any stretch of the imagination - its designed for getting 5 people + luggage across continents in the fastest, safest way and it does that with ease.

Get a remap on the engine and gearbox for £800 ish and you have a 500bhp/500lbft beast that will out-drag any Lotus derivative thats left the factory

I loved mine...but got rid a month or so ago as i just didnt need the room anymore

cheers

They are top cars , they will cost alot to run but it's not just a a6 !! . The big cost's will be every 40k as a service + cambelt + a set of brakes could cost £2500 , They do eat tyres and brake discs if driven hard , a small price for the fastest estate car in the world !!! I would shop around for the wright car , not go for the first one you find .
I've had mine for 6 months and spent £4500 on it ,
19in mtm's with a set of ps2's
pss9's coil over set.
brakes , cam belt service.
Rnse set nav upgrade .

All i can say is WHAT A CAR i love it..bow
