Cheers,

That is what led me to thinking about the total price. Certainly could not do the job myself!

Anybody here had front and rear done at a specialist?

Thanks,

Rob

I did all of the polybushing myself. It took a LONG time, even though I had good access to the chassis (there was no body on the car at the time) The longest job was removing the old bushes - I was lucky if I could do 4 bushes an hour, and there are 8 on the front and 14 on the back (plus 2 for each of the anti-roll bars). So that's potentially 6 hours just for removing the old bushes!

I don't work at the same speed as a garage would, but even so it would be at least a long days work (if not 2 days) to remove wishbones, remove the old bushes, clean up all the problems found and replace everything.

In fact, if you're in for taking the wishbones off, then maybe it's worth considering getting them blasted and repainted if they aren't perfect? You'll not get a better chance.

Thanks for that - I thought it would take a long time - I would hope it would be quicker at a garage though if they cdan press the bushes out and back in.

Good point RE the wishbones - definately worthwhile.

All front bushes doing ... £90 for the poly bushes delivered, 2-3 hours for a TVR indie to do.

I had access to the press in my local garage when I did mine, but without making some special tooling (ie cutting & welding some steel bar wink ) there was no way I could get the press to work on some of the wishbones.

It would have taken longer to make the tooling than to do the job, but if I were doing more than 1 car then it would make sense.

A large engineers vice & hammer along with a quality socket set were a Godsend biggrin

Sorry to hijack the thread..........is poly better than standard rubber bushes in terms of driving experience?
