Hi

Just bought a facelifted boxster s, it appears to have just had the rear main seal done by the Main dealer who is selling the car. When asked why it needed doing on such a new car all he said was TADTS!. Is this correct?

Those non-gt1 derived engines were computer designed to drip oil on the floor. It helps stop the chassis from rusting.

No, it's not. Some go, some don't, some have had multiple failures.

Good news is that, apparently, there is a new seal and a new fitting tool that significantly reduces the likelihood of a re-occurence. In any event it's not a major problem (many people just live with the damp seal), and it is covered under warranty.
