My company currently uses All Star fuel card meaning we can buy petrol at any petrol station and pay the pump price on account.

They do not offer rebates on the petrol cost.

I am aware that there are other cards out there that offer a discount/litre off either the pump price or average price but i have only seen deals that restrict you to one supplier (e.g. Esso)

Can anyone recommend a fuel card to use where we can get a rebate/discount? and can anyone give me an example of the fuel card their company uses and what discounts they receive.

We have about 35 cards spread nationaly, and when spending 000's on fuel a month i thought it was about time we started looking around. May find that earning no rebate and having flexibility to buy anywhere is actually better, but appreciate any comments!

Cheers.

I thought of using American Express Platinum c cards or something similar, at least you get something back for each pound spent.

I don’t see the point of fuel cards if you’re not getting a deal?

we use MBNA business credit card as we get 1% back on fuel and 0.5% back on everything else and get 56/7 days to pay off, asda do 2p a litre off with their credit card

don't use allstar for the reason mentioned

but we are a significantly smaller business than you so the options may not be appropriate

I run a small fleet of 44 ton lorries and at present we use 2 fuel suppliers through cards. I only buy Diesel of course but I m sure they sell Petrol as well.
1. Red Fuel cards (europe)
These used to be called Fuelserv and this week come in at 77.54 pence per
litre + vat as oppsed to pump price of 82.55 pence per litre + vat.
Tel: 01473 466666

2. In fuel Ltd
At present these are selling at 76.96 pence per litre + vat as opposed to
pump price of 82.55 + vat.
Tel: 01473 295449

These prices change on a weekly basis and I do buy a considerable amount of fuel. Tell them SD Transport from Bristol sent you and you never know I might even get a discount! laugh

Thanks,

Have spoken to In Fuel and sounds promising. They do a card that covers all Total, BP and Shell garages that may be good for us, or an Infuel card which covers more brands, but that is a bit restrictive on which garages from a particular network you can visit.

May be that we run this alongside our current card for a bit to see how it goes.

Mentioned your company smile

They seem amazing discounts considering garages swear blind they only make about 4-5p per litre!

We order 10,000 litres at a go for our tank and get it for around 79 pence per litre plus VAT.

I should seroiusly consider changing your supplier then!
This is a random invoice plucked from the file.
Price 77.69 pence per litre, on a 600 litre purchace.

Still not cheap enough IMO, but certainly more favourable terms than 79ppl on 10,000 litres!

Perhaps the difference is that you have to go and get your fuel, whereas the 10K L is delivered?

To an extent yes, there are only a few potential suppliers who are prepared to deliver. In addition, I did say around 79 pence per litre, checking my last invoice it was actually 78.2 pence per litre. wink

Yes, I can see the extra costs involved with the delivery, but buying 10,000 litres should give you some leverage surely?!
After all, the fuel has to be delivered to the site that I buy it from as well, and I guess they are buying it in at less than I'm getting charged.

I must admit I've never really looked into it much, that's supposed to be my manager's job. rolleyes

I'll see if I can get together a list of alternative suppliers.
