Not the old "let's sell the track car through our sweet, innocent, old grandad" routine... Clearly a scam - that roll bar is a dead giveaway wink

This one's much better:

Oh the slander!

The 'Dodgy gearbox' is no more - it's amazing what you can do with a couple of Wagon Wheels and some cellotape* wink

[Note to prospective buyer](* at no point were any Wagon Wheels or cellotape used in the expert maintenance carried out on my gearbox)[/Note to prospective buyer]

Not so much of a scam.If you look at the close up photo of the dash you can see the reflexion of an older man possibly in retirement.
If I didn't have a Chim I would be going for this one.

Personally I would avoid it - only 9k miles in 7 years ? IMHO a disaster waiting to happen. Chims need to be driven , if that mileage is true this ones barely turned a wheel each year. I know if I dont drive my P&J for a month or so she gets very lumpy and bumpy for a while. Drive her every day and she runs very sweetly.

I agree tricky 100, I would seriously consider the paris blue 450, especially with the ali dask, if I were in need of another Chim. It looks great! biggrin

Well guys - This car is now sitting in my garage. I bought it after arranging a viewing after seeing the E-bay placing.
I can tell you that the mileage is completely genuine and it has done no track work. There are just the right amount of stone chips for the mileage, the car is garaged from new, so the chassis is absolutely immaculate.
The outriggers have been treated and there is a bill for it, but scraping it away -the original outriggers are still even white in colour!
I've looked at many in my pursuit of a 450 or 500 and know TVR's well from the spanner work I've done on relatives cars.
This one is a bit special - absolutely like new mechanically and cosmetically. The only fault is a dodgy driver's side wing mirror motor. The history also backs the mileage, and the car is family owned from new by a wealthy guy who races a Ligier and a Radical - in the 6 garage complex it was kept in, I got to look around the Radical and his other cars. This car has been used as about a 5th vehicle by a family that are meticulous about their cars and car prep.
I have a fair amount of experience restoring classic cars including a TR6 and an 86 3 door Cosworth and for a 9 year old unrestored TVR this is about as good as it gets I reckon.

I'm chuffed to bits even if I did blow my budget!!

£14.5K - chuffed with that given the mileage and condition. There are some people wanting that for 20K mile 4.0's!! I looked at 2 500's for that money with over 30K miles on the clock and both were not great (or at least not up to my picky standards :-D) It was the reserve on e-bay and he was ok with taking that for the car.

It's had none of the TADTS issues like hot starting, starter motor heat shield etc done as it's done no miles, so I am sure as I start to use it (probably about 3K miles per year) it'll need a few of these issues sorted in time if they rear their head and the tyres are a bit hard and slippy as they are the originals. Still I'd rather do this than replacing worn out bits on some of the other models I've looked at.

It's a TVR though, so high or low mileage - I'm sure it'll suck money as badly as my S1 Elise did - I just get a better engine note to go with it!!

Hi Peter,
Glad your pleased with the car, its always a difficult one selling TVR"s because I find people sceptic if its to low a mileage ( like mine ) and again if its to high. It was a pleasure dealing with you yesterday as you obviously know what your looking for.
I hope you have and am sure you will have many happy miles in her.
Enjoy.

Best Regards

Tony.
