993 prices ARE going skywards
Discussion
Do a search by price on 993s in the classifieds are you'll find there are 18 cars £35k and upwards - and they're NOT all Ss and Turbos.
Is now the time to buy a low-mileage car before the prices get really silly, or will the prices suffer a correction if interest rates continue to rise?

If you dont think its worth the money maybe you are missing the point. Its not about whether the car is better when compared to a 996 or whatever. There are limited numbers and they are only going to reduce as more get written off or held onto, supply and demand will prevail. Combine that with the fact that the 993 represents the end of an era for Porsche as they moved into mass production and other models such as the Cayenne etc etc. The 993 will always represent the end of the bomb proof build quality and old school air cooled Porsche.
Just for the record I am not a 993 anorak!

Make a bloody nice sound though
So does a 996 with a PSE

Personally, I think the values of many so called 'specialist' cars are getting peaky.
Time of the year, bouyant economy, house prices, low interest rates, job security, 'feel good' factor........have all contributed to the rising sales and prices of many new, prestige, classic and specialist cars. However, the truth is, there is actually an over-supply of most of these cars and, if confidence starts to wobble, prices will drop back very quickly.
Buy something because you want/need it, and can afford the financial hit if/when it comes. Just being realistic.

...these cars are just not worth the money...
in a world where this pretentious w$nk
is worth £37,000,000..... i'd argue a real work of art and talent like a 993 is underpriced

They're worth exactly what someone else will pay for them
uh. yeah. very good. thanks
the fact that unmade beds, medicine cabinets, pickled animals, cleverish grafitti and some niceish colours on canvas are 'worth' millions shows that money is cheap and asset yields too low (same thing i guess). in such a world anything limited in number, desirable and collectable will go up...

With 993s being OPC un-warrantable - Surely this price increase/leveling off proves that either:
A. They are bomb-proof and dont require a yearly £895 a year "What If" fund.
B. All 993s owners are loaded and cough-up quietly when the car visits the garage.
C. All 993s owners are Purists & experts at DIY with regards to there cars staying in tip-top shape.
D. Un-warrantable 996's at under £20k are there through supply/demand and not because of the fear of engines blowing up.
E. It is just a fantastic car and worth every penny.

For all these reasons, there is no doubt that long-term 993s will be worth more than 996s, but do the current prices have room for further growth, or are they unsustainable? That is the question.Just for the record I am not a 993 anorak!
My view is that they are about right now, but they will continue to climb for a period before falling back.
(A nice, but not special. 993 Targa at 911virgin on at £29k was sold in about 5 seconds this week.)
Its very simple..its supply and demand. Also the 993 was the end of an era..Porsches were always deemed in the air-cooled days to be very different to any other marque, loved by a few and hated by many, uncompromising and quite challenging to drive however Porsche were losing money with that product. So quite simply the product had to change..along came less specialist cars, mass produced and very easy to drive by comparison and Porsche make money. As they can sell so many cars now as they appeal to the mass market they will do so,however anydody who wants the quirky, original 911 feel will not be happy with a 996, and a 997 has been diluted even further from the original 911 characteristics. Why do people buy DB5'S when they can buy brand new Astons?,they do it because the want a piece of nostalgia and history not because the DB5 drives better..930/964/993 similar buyers...all imo of course.

I love that painting ...
why? i dont understandI'm a big monet fan, I love impressionism (though its claimed he had cateracts or some eye problem, so actually painted the way he saw the world), but to me, that painting is something a 5 year old could do, there is nothing to it, no depth, no image, no depth, its just paint...
