Hello, this is my first outing into the SatNav forum so be gentle with me!

I've got a Tomtom One V2 and need to find a windscreen mounting cradle that actually stays on the windscreen.

The freebie one with the Tomtom is (as the reviews all say cr*p!).

I've googled and there seem to be a number of options but I'm concerned they are going to be just as cr*p as the one I've got.

Can anyone recommend one?

Thanks

I have a TomTom One Mk1 and the windscreen mount works well, if you apply it in a particular way. Maybe the Mk2 is different, but I found that it did fall off if you didn't press the mount hard against the glass before you operated the lever. If the lever is easy to operate, it's not going to stay put. If the lever is difficult to flip across, it'll be fine.

Sadly the V2 doesn't have a lever, it just suctions onto the windscreen (or not more usually!)

I ran sat nav on the IPAQ previously and that mount had a lever - that was fab - I struggled to get the thing off the screen after use!

I had a Tomtom 1 and had similar problems. I found that if you gave it a good lick and squeezed it on with some pressure, it remained up for much longer. Apologies for any hint of innuendo in my previous sentence.

I've got a V2 TT, and have never had any problems in the Elise with it falling off the windscreen

I've got a V2 in my Volvo V50 - looks cheap and nasty compared to the V1,but actually works very well and has never fell off in 6 months constant use (cue it falling off tomorrow...!)

Don't lick it, just press the centre firmly with your thumbs and you'll never get it off again.

I thought it was cr4p at first but they do work.

Mine spends more time on my lap than on the windscreen. It's crap!

I licked mine before I stuck it on, used it all day, then couldn't get the bugger off.

I have just been sent a new one from TT free of charge. I am hoping that one will work better smile

I've found exactly the same. I've got a Tom Tom 1 v1 andborrowed a v2 fro a friend. I couldn't get the silly thing to stay on the windsceen. They've certainly made it much cheaper. For example, the v1 has a seperate power socket plus USB socket whilst the v2 only has a USB socket through which power is provided.

My conslusion, if you have a v1, stick with it!

Interestingly, used v1 devices on Ebay get about £100 whilst a new v2 is £150
