Can they catch you? Basically, if you get flashed by a fixed camera in France while driving a car on UK plates is there a chance of getting fined as a result, or can we sail through them merrily without a care in the world?

I got flashed last year on the N138 around Gace (Should have known it was there really after successfully avoiding it for the previous 2 years!)

...Not heard a thing since

That one got me too! Again not heard anything since. However the gendarmes are a different matter. They will issue on the spot fines. Be careful. They also have the power to confiscate your car.

I've been nicked by one near Magny Cours at about 20 or 30kph over the limit and never heard anything, but I've been flashed a couple of times in the UK without any tickets too so I figured it could be the camera was out of film or something.

They can't prosecute you from the fixed cameras..

But sometimes the BiB do lurk around the camera sites so it's best to be aware when you get close to them.

Since January this year, the reciprocal arrangements between EU countries for chasing up traffic offences across borders have been tightened up. Don't be too complacent about this. Btw, there's talk about removing the warning signs so that'll be fun in the future if they do it!

I tripped the speed camera about 1 mile outside of Dieppe on the way out last year. Great way to start an LM trip wink but never heard anything further smile

Gace is a favourite.

They usually set up 2 or 3 mobile traps around Gace. I think it's something to do with the fact that they think drivers will feel as though they are "safe", now they are a long way from LM.

I got pulled just prior to Gace, 3 years ago. they had a queue of people they were waiting to process.

They normally set up on roundabouts.

I got "Flashed" 2 years ago chasing the rest of the convoy, I was doing about 110mph in a 60kmh limit, bit stupid of me but i slowed down to the limit when i got to the built up area, never heard a thing.

I won't be doing that again as it scared the crap out of me!

I've been flashed a couple of years ago and heard nowt, however, if you see one of these:
slow down before you get to one of these:

The signs are obvious and they will be followed by a camera.

The ACO also has very up-to-date maps of radar locations.

Excuse the French but click on the map - it's quite easy to use.
As well as putting on the world's greatest race, the ACO campaigns a lot for motorists' rights over here.

[quote=This website]There are also speed cameras in the Calais area now, and fines are enforced if the driver is from the U.K.
