Anyone driven them back to back?Apart from the obvious, looks etc,can you really tell any difference on road or track if you're not Walter Rohl?Very curious...Cheers.

Clutch is quite a bit heavier on the RS.

Also cheaper to replace I guess, them dual mass flywheels are rubbish and expensive.

I had a chat with the PDE instructors, who are constantly driving the two back to back 'on road','on track' and at the proving grounds.

They said that there was very little difference. The cage gives some added stiffness, the RS is noisier, the lfw can be a bit intrusive, you have to watch the extra width and, on the high speed bowl, the bigger rear spoiler and wider track gives a touch more stability at v.high speeds. Performance is indistinguishable, comfort in the GT3 is a bit better.

It is hard to justify the extra cost of an RS over a GT3 Club Sport - but, I suppose, it's only money biggrin

I think that apart from the obvious visual payback with the RS, then I would say it will pay dividends when selling at the end of the day.
As I have said before the GT 3looks like any other 911 to your average on looker.

totally agree, tempted as I undoubtedly am by the extra drama etc associated with the RS I am gonna resist. The cynicism with which Porsche treats its customers now can't help but cast a bit of doubt on the RS's status as anything other than very clever marketing.I am also told by Porsche GB that c.100 cars will arrive in the UK which I believe is the same as the 996 version and we all know what happened to residuals there.

Having said all that the 997 RS must be the most unapologetic, rock n roll car money can currently buy and to those who have them I say more power to you!!

I wouldn't agree with that - the 996/997 GT3s look pretty distinctive.

Quite agree with you there, they spend more time talking about the price difference than anything else.Perhaps the track test will be better.

Ditto. I'm always amazed by how many 'normal' people notice that the GT3 is something special - I wasn't expecting it at all.

Anyone have tips for an exhaust for a 997 RS? I have looked at Cargraphic but besides them?

But isn't that a good thing if you want the car for the driving & not to impress others???

What!!

The one I was a passenger in around the Ring, sounded the dogs b*llocks. Better than my Manthy'd 996 RS.

This was a Chris Harris article wasn't it? - got more cred than any of the other journos around.
