Hi, Having lurked around the site for a very long time I now find myself in need of some advice. Recently noticed a white-ish residue around the cap of the coolant reservoir on my 911 ('04 996 C4S Cab).

Took the car in for service and asked technicians to look at it. Inevitably they came back to tell me there is a leak and the tank must be replaced at a cost of bit more than £400. Furthermore they inform me that this is not covered by the £895 pa. Porsche Warranty which I been faithfully renewing.

Sure this has been covered on various threads in the past but could someone shed some light on whether is this a common fault? and if whether there is any justification (other than fine print in the T&C) that it is not covered under warranty? Has anyone successfully contested this with Porsche?

Thanks,

Rabin

Common problem - they split along the joint.

Mine needed this and it's not covered, but if you have a warranty and a Full Porsche History, and you bought the car from OPC they'll do it under goodwill (at least they did mine...)

Good luck.

Thanks for the prompt response - car bought brand new from OPC West London, serviced by them in past and under warranty since new with less than <11k miles on the clock....

Having encountered such poor/ indifferent service from them in past and heard other horror stories decided to take it to East London OPC... Perhaps a mistake - they may not feel the same sense of obligation? Service Advisor made no mention of "goodwill?" when he told me.... but rather "that'll be £406 sir and unfortunately not covered by the warranty, we're very sorry.."

I shall try to appeal to their good nature.... was hoping they would be an improvement on West London...

West London are normally cool. If yo bought the car from them and it's all OPC then speak to the salesman you bought it off.

He might twist their arm.
