Good afternoon,

A gentleman from the FSB came to see us yesterday to inform us of the services it can offer. Even by taking advantage of the Merchant Services I will pay for my joining fee. However, he was alluding to the fact that I could use their legal advice services instead of my current employment lawyers. We use First Business Support (http://www.first-business.co.uk/) at the moment and find their service to be very poor indeed, just like most other stuff when we bought the business it was continuation of the previous regime.

Does anyone have any experience with the FS legal advice or should I stick with an advice line from a company such as First Business? Any help would be most appreciated.

Regards

Do NOT do it. They are lightwieght and their legal team will not put anything in writing. When I first set up I joined the FSB on the same basis but soon found out that they do not do what the salesman say they do!

Keep you proper legal counsel and save the FSB fee, it's a complete waste of money. (IMHO)

I'll join though because I'll save more than the joining fee with the savings on our credit card machine. Just need to find an employment law consultant now...

Erm I'd have to check for you - it's slightly above the cost of a standard 'Streamline' machine. I think the monthly rental is higher - that's all.

Through the FSB the charge falls from around 3.25% to 1.9% per transaction, which would represent massive savings for us.
