my neighbour is the proud owner of the above car and he has had the missfortune of having some inconsiderate 7.5 tonne trucker swipe the side of his car and he has been struggling with the insurance company to get a valuation for the car, most of the others that are similar are fetching around 3k mark so i was hoping someone on here might be able to give me an idea on value, the car is as follows,

1988 PONTIAC FIERO
RED
2.5
64000 MILES (not KMS)
L4 ENGINE
CHASSIS No. 1G2PE11RXJP220908

please help!

Just checked and there's no Fieros for sale in this month's Classic American.

Are there any with "Buy it now" prices on eBay?

If UK insurance companies are anything like US ones (or-if they consult with a US one) they will not like Fieros very much due to the "spontaneous combustion" issue.

I had the same problem - some cement-mixing lorry tried to get into my Lincoln through the passengers side door. Insurance company trying to say £3000 worth damage(my repair quote was £900), but valuing car at only £1200 (same price as only other lincoln on sale).

Having insured the car for value of £2000 for the past 2 years, I wasn't happy and told them they were fraudulent (costs us more to insure a car when the value increases doesn't it)

Anyway, I cut out loads of adverts from old issues of Classic American etc (giving details of the condition of the cheapie examples) and faxed them to the insurance brokers.

Bingo... they offered me £1700 or £1500 and salvage retention. I took the £1500 and car back, then sold car on for £400. So got my £2k in the end.

So don't worry if there isn't any currently for sale - check old issues and put 'completed auctions' in ebay search. The good thing with Yank cars is they go up in value and WE enthusiasts set the prices.

Fiero was always a bit of a duffer I'm afraid. The value of one is whatever someone will pay assuming you can find someone who wants one but they will be few and far between. One day it may go up in value but not for a while yet.
