Just picked my Chim up from TVR Power after having to walk everywhere for the last two weeks. I had almost forgotten the sound and how it felt to drive but the second I pushed that oh so tantilising button and she roared to life it all came back biggrin These cars really are so different to pretty much anything else - roaring down the M6 and then through the queensway tunnels under Brum city centre making a huge racket with big firework bangs out the back and a huge smile on my face, its just so much fun! But after just having a top end rebuild, new cam fitted, full decat, diff bushes replaced and a gearbox rebuild my wallet is feeling a little empty but its my last exam tomorrow and then its roll on summer! musicparty

Glad you're back in the Chim, Nick. Must sound amazing through the Queensway. So, whats next on the upgrade list? How about some nice adjustable Shocks.

Hope the exam goes well. How much longer are you staying in Brum?

Hi Paul, I think it will take a fair bit of work before I'm able to upgrade anything else! Though that hasn't stopped me planning it... Its going for a remap to sort out the fueling at the top end in a couple of weeks then next up are the carpets which I was going to do over Easter, but Coverdale were timewasting and couldnt match Portfield Grey so I said I'd get back to them when they'd found it... Once thats done, I shall be on to handling which I haven't really thought about yet but I suspect it will be a set of uprated shocks and brake pads (i'm yet to do my homework on this subject) and possibly better anti-roll bars or S.H drop links, again once I've done my homework and decided which is going to be the best route to take. This should pretty much do me for this summer as I dont earn that much and I have to get over these shockingly high bills first! Though in the back of my mind I would also quite like a respray and some different lights fitting but that will have to wait till Xmas I suspect...

It is going to end up a bit like Trig's broom but I want to end up with my perfect car so its a sort of on-going project...

Anyway I'm going home this weekend for my dad's 50th (might even let him take it for a spin to let him see what a proper car feels like for his birthday - he currently drives a Cayman S laugh). I'll probably stay down for a few days to work off some of this debt then I'll be back for next weekend for not sure how long but I'll def be around for the Valley run and anything else that's happening - metcheck.com shows some rather nice weather in a couple of weeks so a few evening runs to the pub might be in order! driving

Thers always something you can improve so its a never ending project once you decide to go down that route. The only major improvement on mine are the Gaz shocks, which certainly improves the handling. Not sure if i want to throw thousands at it, i just like it as it is. Would like to get the stone chips done though - picked up a few more on Sunday trying to keep up with Lyns. Did nearly 300 miles up to North Wales and back. Dry roads all the way and with the top down. Hope the Elan Valley day out has similar favourable conditions.

Sounds perfect! I hope it will be a similar story on the next run... How much of a difference do the Gaz shocks make out of interest? You'll have to take me out for a blast to show me the difference at some point! Yeah it probably will be a never ending project but I enjoy doing it so its all good for now... The respray is for the same reason as you, there are quite a few stone chips on it now with one quite big one annoying me, plus a few bad touchups from the previous owner here and there so I reckon its going to have to be a full respray rather than just a front end... I'll leave it until I can afford it though and it will probably pick up a fair few more stone chips over summer on the planned runs + chimfest etc
