How longd'you prime the oil pump for??

Using the remove the dizzy and use a drill method:

10 seconds, 10 minutes, 2 hours??

Im going slightly mad (Queen?!?), and thinking I must be missing something here with the pressurisation problem.

Until you're old and grey, if you're unlucky and the pump is completely dry. Don't you have a remote filter head or oil cooler?

Both.

Filter is upsidedown on the inner wing.

Then take one of the hoses off and back fill from there? I've got a little drill powered pump that I tee into the oil cooler line, primes the pump and gets some lubrication around the engine.

Done that type of priming several times, and it takes less than 20 seconds to build up the pressure (but can depend on the revs you use to rotate the pump drive...). But this was without changing oil filters and stuff, just no pressure!!!! Kept on priming after for some time to be sure, and never had any issues. After a couple of weeks it takes about 5-7 seconds before the oil pressure builds up (and think I am using the same filter). Engine is fine and in good nick with oil pressure at 30-45 psi (higher when oil still cold) and 20-25 psi during idle (increased idle a bit to keep it at 25 now).

Along the same lines, but on removal and refit of a 400 engine and box. We refited the lump, but can't remember which way the oil pump line go. IE top outlet of pump to the inlet of filter or to oil cooler?

Can anyone help with this - as I have the same problem.

Could someone with a 400 SE take a look at the oil filter and trace the hose back to the engine - it leads to the remote filter housing.

? - Is it the top or bottom of the 2 pipes on the housing ?

I took loads of pictures of mine before dis-assembly and also labeled everything.. but the label got soaked in oil..

But I have a picture and can finally answer the question..

Bottom outlet goes to the oil filter..
