Do they actually work?

Was it the chimera they were fitted to or the Cerby?

The light is in a recess and the plates have to be of a transparent nature.

If you need to get a set of plates, I have used http://www.fancyplates.com/ successfully though I recommend telephoning your order through rather than using their website which can become a little complicated.

In addition, if you have one of the fastest colours, like Green, not a lot of light reaches the back of the plate so the nighttime visibility can be improved by lining the recess behind the numberplate with aluminium foil held on with some blue-tac.

As Spud says Fancyplates are highly recommended - under the construction section there is an option to insert any special requests and I have just received my translucent rear plate by stating this in the box provided - all in for both plates about £33.

I just bought one from partsexpress@btinternet.com for £11.90 delivered - looks great and works perfectly.

Mark,

The answer you are looking for, i'd imagine being a fellow Dubber. Is that the plates themselves aren't lit but are iluminated from the rear. Not suitable to mount on a flushed VW easily.
