NEW MONARO ON THE ROAD!!!
Discussion
Hi All,
I was driving to Watford on the A41 on Saturday morning and spotted the new Monaro VXR8 in red coming towards me. I had seen the pictures of it in a car mag somewhere so instantly recognised it. I've been on the Vauxhall website this morning to have a look at the VXR8. The car appears to look identical except for one feature. On the car I saw, it had 2x large oval tailpipes... whereas the pictures on Vauxhall's website show 4x smaller round tailpipes. In every other way it looked like the VXR8. I didn't get time to study the badges to see if it really was a Vauxhall, or maybe a HSV/Import of some kind. But what I can say... despite having 4-doors, it is a very good looking and muscular looking car. Much better in the skin...
At the time I was driving the company Picasso. If I had been driving my Mustang... I would have probably given him a flash/wave!
Cheers

When I drove it in Oz recently it does have two seats in the back because the middle one is very narrow. However, there is sooooo much more room in the back than the Monaro, especially legroom, even 6ft 3" journos were fine!!
According to stats in the E-Series brochure, there should be loads of space in the back - more room in every direction than my Honda FRV which comfortably sits 3 adults. This picture makes the rear centre seat look fairly decent:

...but then I haven't seen it in the flesh.

I dont think they are calling it the Monaro. Partly because that was the name given to the coupe version. The new one is the sedan pretty much called a Commodore, albeit in HSV form and probably only called VXR8. But Im being pedantic.
That isn't being pedantic; it simply is NOT a Monaro. It is a Commodore.Gassing Station | HSV & Monaro | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
