Shutlines?

Can anyone give any advice on the shutlines? I'm doing a GTR body pre-fit, but having difficulty getting a good (even) gap. Be nice to know what has worked for other builders...

The rear clip is the problem. If I make a good gap on the straight line to the rear of the fuel fillers then the edge against the cockpit touches most of the way across. If I get a good gap against the cockpit then the straight bit behind the fuel fillers is a wide chasm. So I can't find a happy medium

I guess the more basic question is what gap should I be aiming for all round?

what about if you lower the rear hinges and then pull them in tighter to the chassis. Factory also takes about 10mm off the bottom edge of the rear clip where it touches the tyres.

Dave's spot on. The adjustment forward/aft and up and down is the hinged rose joint. That should get you good cockpit/side pod alignment. Then play with spacing on the side pod to chassis (flat inboard vertical) section and putting washers outside of the rose joints to give lateral adjustability.

Main thing here is (I hope I'm not alone ) that to get a perfect finish, you'll realise that symmetry goes out the window. I have two washers on the RHS and none on the LHS. I have quite a few mm of packing under the side pod flanges, but again, not the same both sides!!

PS - I found that a small braket on the bulkhead to rest the rear clip on is worth doing at this point. It controls the outer surface of cock top v canopy and is worth and extra pair of hands whilst aligning everything else. Datum points are your friends in this task

Best advice I can give is to persevere and try to convice someone who has done it to come round and give you a little advice.

Like Lucky I had to space parts out and even put spacers under the canopy body one side to get the rear clip right.... I'm sure you already know but try raising and lowering the clip a few mm's at a time each side.
