If you're going via the motorway, you will have no problems at all. There's now a 24 hour one between Rouen and LM too.
Although, some of the motorway stations are semi-unmanned, so you have to stroll off into the main shop area and leave your card before they'll turn the pumps on for you.Nick M said:
Some of the petrol stations have pumps which now allow you to pay at the pump, and UK cards work with the chip and Pin readers.
Not all though:http://www.swtoc.co.uk/showpic.php?Photo=pics/lm09...

I've travelled several times overnight on the Friday, but not for the last 3-4 years. I'm aware of the petrol problem. Most petrol stations are, in my experience, closed and using UK credit cards is iffy. So, I've always filled up at Calais, and taken a 5 gallon spare tank just a precaution. There is a manned service station 24 hours on the new autoroute at Alencon but that's a significant distance from Calais. Also, note that there ia a 24 hours manned gas station on the main road by Le Mans aerodrome; I've needed this on a number of occasions! R
Opening hours and prices are published on the internet: see this thread.
