Off to France touring in a few weeks - and I've picked up from P/H lots of hints regarding
the spares and tools I need to be thinking about taking (now wondering how I'm going to tow
the trailer I'll need !).
Wondered about leaving my spare from a 96 Chim in the garage and just taking Tyre Weld to give me a wee bit more
boot space.
But is it legal to run in France without carrying a spare ?
Any views most welcome

I don't carry a spare in my Griff, just a couple of cans of Tyre Weld and I'm not planning to take the spare with me to LM. Lots of cars don't have spares as standard anyway so they'd have a prob.

No spare at all in the Cerb as standard - just a can of tyreweld. No requirement I am aware of to have one.

Take at least two cans of the stuff - just goy back from Paris this morning and another Cerb hit a pothole just before Calais.
One can did just about nothing, the second allowed him to get on the train - still had to call for a lowloader at Folkestone.
Sorry for the bad news - forewarned and all that.

I have a spare, the car came with it tucked nicely into the corner of the boot. It doesnt take up too much room and I like the security of having it there. just my penneth worth!

My first Chim (V plate)came with the space saver wheel. The second (Y plate) had 2 cans of tyre weld. When i questioned this the reply was along the lines of the customers wanted more boot space. So it must be legally fine. Not the same if you are heading to a ferry or the chunnel.
