Do you have any experience of this diff and how does it compare to the hydratrack version fitted to the Tuscan S? Is there a noticable improvement in traction and handling?

I've had both, used both on the road and rather harder on trackdays / competitive sprints.

Quaife's (patented) design instantly transfers an infinitely variable amount of torque between the rear wheels for maximum traction – similar to a Hydratrak in behaving like a normal ‘open’diff, until you start losing any traction, except;

- It works fully at low speeds too, avoiding the one wheel spinning and losing traction that happens noticeably with the hydratrak at low speeds

- It’s more reliable for trackdays as it doesn’t rely on fluid that heats up tremendously and fails if your wheels spin too often in a session – see your handbook warning.

Not experienced the quaife, but I have experienced the hydratraks seemingly bizarre behaviour. As paul says, at low speed you'll occaisionally find it doesnt really lock much causing just the inside wheel to slip a bit - at high speeds however I actually quite rate the hydratrack, it works pretty well. The main problem I and alot of other people have experienced with it isnt just down to the lower speed inactivity of it, but more the way the diff locks as it loads up with speed increasing - it can be quite unsettling at times to have this transition between an open and locked diff.

Im not sure if I have really explained it well, but those who've experienced it will know what im on about hopefully. The hydratrak behaves very inconsistantly in my experience, the quaife shouldnt have this failing.

TTtim had a brilliant demonstration of this at Croft, which im sure he caught on camera but hasnt yet shared... wink he scared the censored out of me!

Paul - I'll have a word with dad on wednesday, we wont have internet access, but will be back on saturday/sunday. smile

I do not wish to downgrade at all thanks.

Sagaris possibly...
