What's This??

Whilst removing my headlights i noticed this cylinder type can with 2 pipes coming from it in the drivers side wing.
Can't find any reference to it in the bible.
Just wondered what it is any one know?

its the carbon canister animal not quite sure of its operation,but think its something to do with venting the fuel tank??? mark

Well I know bugger all but I'd guess that a carbon canister is meant to trap fuel fumes, prevent them condensing and dripping somewhere. Presumably there's never enough to warrant a system for returning it to the tank.

The fumes are sucked back into the tank as the fuel is used. I believe there are various valves to make this happen.
