Morning chaps.

First foray into this forum, and a fairly straightforward question really............

I am about to bin a V6 Cosworth Scorpio. Is is worth my effort to pull the lump out and try to flog it, or is it not really a proper "cosworth" engine? specially considering thta these were only available as an auto and hence will come out with a torque converter attached (yuk!).

It is still a cosworth engine. BOA engines say Cosworth on the plenum. BOB engines have an octopus plenum. Late engines have stronger blocks but people don't like the dual cam chains. Early engines are preferred 'pullouts' because the ecu is easy to retro install.

Advertise it here and see what people say.

Lots of people have fitted these as a replacement for the rather crude Cologne V6 in Capris and Sierras.

As you say, they only came with auto boxes, but apparently the flywheel, bellhousing and gearbox from the Cologne V6 bolt straight on.

Reckon you should be able to sell it OK.

Towie,

I'm looking for the gear selector from a Scorpio automatic for a special I'm building. The auto box I want to match the Scorpio selector to has three speeds with an electonic locking overdrive, is this the same as your auto box, ie the selector gate showing 1 or(L) 2 D N R P . There should also be a power/ economy switch and an overdrive switch in the gear slector handle.

If this is your type of selector I would like to purchase the whole selector ( ie everything around and including the selector and trim from inside the cabin and below the floorpan) from you when you break the car.
The scrappies around here seem to gas axe the selector when stripping cars here so I cant get my hands on one....and I actually need two. ( I'm building twins)

Cheers,

Tony

I`ll check tomorrow for you.

Hardly seems worth the effort of pulling the engine if they are only worth £50.

Nice Hijack Mr Thong!

Is the engine in or out of the car? I'd buy an engine for my business but not a car.
