How noisy is your upgraded fuel pump
Discussion
I have the Roush upgraded fuel pump and it is very noisy. A loud wering noise, that gets louder when run for an hour or so. It is not cavitating, it's just a constant spinning sound that gets louder.
Is this normal. I have put louvres in the arch insert to get some air around it to help cooling. I do not mind the noise as long as they all do that.
If it is not normal, then I am more concerned that it might stop on the way down to LeMans.
Cheers

I have just fitted the 044 pump and and can hear it inside the car. I have placed some sound deadening within the void around the pump, especially near the bulk head and door. It made it a bit better.
I did think of putting some Rockwool in the void as it is fire resistant and used as sound deadening.
I have also read tha if you put it at an angle, inlet at top, it helps. I will probably do this soon, but the bolts need drilling out that hold the bracket in as they are f**ked!!

I think you'll find that quite a bit of the noise comes out of the side pod opening. Problem is, blocking this up isn't going to help cooling. Hhhmm. I think we need to run one out of the car and work out just what the noise is. On mine it gets worse the hotter it is, that I do know. Is it fuel vapor in the pump? Play time....

The hose ducts off the side vent don't take air into the void that the pump is in. They route through it into the engine bay. I think your find that there is prettey much no cooling in that area. Of course this might not be the case on all the cars, but it is on mine.

My M400 has had vents put in the wheel arch liner which means the 'pod' takes air straight over the fuel pump.James
Makes bugger all difference though
