Hi, Was looking at the option of running an alternative set of wheels on my 22B. Original wheels seem unobtainable, (unless you have any), so I am looking for something else that is not blingy. The car is modded for track days and sprints and hillclimbs and I suppose it is possible to go up an inch in diameter and maybe wider or with different offset. Anyone on here tried other wheels be it good or bad?
I tried my old 22B once it had been fitted with 18" OZ Super Turismos.
(They were 18 x 8" with a 35mm offset (totally incorrect as the standard wheel is 8 1/2" wide with a 48mm offset
IMO it didn't do the car ANY favours from a handling or steering feel perspective at all.
Unless you're prepared to start playing with or replacing the standard suspension I'd stick with the 17s personally.
BUT, if you are adamant you want to go bigger you'll find these are decent quality (and not bling) also available in 9 x 18.......

Failing that (and if you've got very deep pockets) have a look at the Advan Racing wheels on here :

Especially the RG2, RS or RCII.....

Thanks Slippy, I too would rather stick to the original wheels if poss from years of experience. I like the handling as it is, but am struggling for even one spare wheel! I will find one eventually, but it makes it a concern for trackdays. Hope you had lots of fun with your 22B, I have up to yet.

Yep...very nice!! But i bet they are a whole heap more expensive from Prodrive themselves.Slippydiff said:

I have MO's on my Celica. They are possibly the heaviest wheels in the world.(They were 18 x 8" with a 35mm offset (totally incorrect as the standard wheel is 8 1/2" wide with a 48mm offset

Extremely strong though, which is why I got them living in pothole central.
