spluttering after fuel refill: help!
Discussion
Griff 500 running fine. Fuel running low (gague reading empty) so fill up on BP ultimate - usually use this fuel. Pull away and get juddering/spluttering at low revs. Get to work and back, but only just. On way home juddering getting worse particularly when trying to accelerate. Can anyone help. Need to be up and running for trip to Le Mans in two weeks. Much appreciated.

Had same problem with my car after filling up, and thought it was bad fuel as it occurred when many supermarkets were delivered out of spec fuel a few months ago, the car was just driveable. Turned out to be a faulty air flow meter therefore I suggest you borrow one to try before buying, they cost around £250 and take 2 minutes to fit.
My god, what a coincidence. I had exactly the same thing at the weekend. The car cut out just as I came to a halt after a very long run (circa 250 miles). I thought I had run out of fuel, so went and got a can and put some fuel in and topped it up. It then continued to stall on me at low revs, but would pull fine at high revs. I thought I had sucked some rubbish up from the bottom of the tank into one of the injectors, but I couldn't work out how it would have got past the fuel filter.
Where could I borrow an air flow meter to make sure that this is actually the problem and not something more serious?
Many thanks,
Alex

I have an AFM that you could borrow, but I'm not exactly on the beaten track...
Another thing to look at is the rollover valve at the top of the fuel tank or the carbon can. If either of these gets blocked, then the tank can pressurise and this causes merry hell with the fuel pressure regulator.
