I was wondering if Cerberas had stayed in production what do you think TVR would have added to freshen the cars up and retain interest for new buyers over the crop of current cars on the market?

so ideas along the lines of:

Body shape
Equipment
Handling
Power
Refinement hehe
Cost
Safety
reliability
<ahem> 'environmental' issues

A radio antenna that works

<ahem> 420bhp wink

eta: a tall 6th gear (or even just extending 5th somewhat) for the motorway.

I'd love to have ABS in mine, hate to sound a wimp but driving in the pouring rain this weekend was "interesting" to say the least. I think apart from this maybe having decent gas discharge headlights and wipers that work properly from standard would make the car pretty much perfect!

i would like to have seen them improve the quality of componants used ie better shocks like the ones we are all fitting ourselves, braided brake hoses, fuel lines, hoses with s/s clips better wiring etc. ps i am not whinging its just mho that i would have liked them to evolved that way had the cerb still been in production at the end of the day i love mine to bits.

Wipers aren't much of a problem for me, but headlights that are ever so slightly brighter than a candle would be great biggrin

Actually, they're somewhat better since I put some decent bulbs in, but still nowhere near where they should be :-)

It doesn't need much to bring it up to date but these are what I've considered:

>Digital dash and "visible" switchgear... and a proper indicator stalk. The electronic one fitted might be a nice design feature but it's hopeless to use.

>Properly galvanised chassis and undercarriage.

>Slightly more room in the rear without compromising the overall shape.

>LED rear lights, or at least something brighter than the standard ones. High visibility central brake light.

>6-speed box.

Mine has no high speed stability problems. It's quite firmly planted but has aftermarket suspension and has been properly geo'd.

You'll be wanting one of these then:

Some further chassis development much in the mould of the Tuscan2/Sagaris would have been the obvious thing; beyond that, of course the much-vaunted 32V DOHC AJP8 development - if only to make the thing pass Euro IV standards - ABS and a good TCS system along the lines of the Racelogic one.

Apart from that - build it properly every time so one can sleep at night even when one isn't a very wealthy chemical engineer, and leave well enough alone. I still would yes

I have standard suspension and have no high speed issues at all, seems very stable as if it wasn't I wouldn't do !70 on my private runway.

Seems maybe something isn't quite right with yours?

Probably the same as my standard set-up, tired and short of answers at the higher end of silly speeds!

I'll get that looked into but over about 140 (which I have only ever done @ vmax and on the autobahn obviously) I just found her a tad twitchy. Although to be fair, that is compared to an Esprit which did have the edge on handling generally.

From what I've read, it's entirely possible that unless your car has been properly geo'd since leaving the factory, all 4 of your wheels could be poiinting in differeent directions. The factory wasn't known for applying the finishing touches.
