There's this Tamora........
Discussion
..... for sale at Tony Gilbert's in orange with a 4 litre engine. Apparently it was an engine upgrade offered for free by the factory.
Any thoughts as to the merits of such a car, should it have had the full RR package??
Anyone on here moved from Cerbera to Tamora??
I'm just dipping my toe in the water you understand, but had my cerb for 5 years now, & whilst it's been a faultless beast, i'm sort of yearning for a bit of roofless action
Any thoughts gents?

I doubt that the factory would have given a 4.0S engine as a no cost option, but straight 4.0 upgrades varied from no cost to a grand in 1995.......or how much a particular dealer thought he could get from the punter.
Hope this helps.

I have moved from a Cerbera to a Tamora, but with a 5 year gap in between. In fact the Cerbera I had in 2002 is spookily currently on Ebay, yellow with navy interior, somewhere in Essex.
I bought the Tamora (instead of a Cerbera) because it was my second car and if it was going to be for sunny special days then a convertible would make them more special. My overall feeling is it feels a bit less "solid" and is a middle ground between a Cerbera and VX220 in terms of handling, build, feel, etc. In terms of performance Tamora feels quicker due to wind in hair and slightly less planted handling over bumpy roads.
Obviously they are very different cars, I guess trying a Tamora is the way forward. Nothing looks or sounds like a Cerbera, and it is the premium that you put on the roof coming off that decides if you can live without one. In my case the jury is still out.
Practicality wise fewer seats is obvious and less boot space with the roof in. Never had a problem with the roof leaking on mine no matter how bad the weather.

Having spoken to guys at TVR Power in the past about engine specs, even on the old RV8's, it would seem that the factory would fit whatever engine was there at the time and I think I know the car you're talking about and it does have a 4.0L engine that was fitted at the factory.
They would not fit a 4.0S engine into anything unless the costs were covered of that I'm sure. Cost differntial was significant.Build sheet may help identify the engine size and spec, engine number may also, but its not a racing certainty.

Mr F
Have changed from a CERB to a T 350 recently (not totally voluntarely...)
Although it looks different at first (less seats, boot etc) Speed Six is the better everyday car (from the engine characteristic to the driving position to the visibility) and so on-
The Cerb on the other hand is a supercar (incl the impracticality and pain associated with it as also the power, the looks, the roar) as you know
I am not sure if this help
As the desk I am sitting on is out of wood I am not talking about the engine here...
and I am firmly knocking on the desk here

fronts cheap as chips, rears are expensive as a hub mod or change is required to do properly. Not worth the expense to retro-fit IMHO.
