New door - colour problems
Discussion
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a bit of advice about my car repair / resprayed door.
I had to get a new door and wing on my car after some silly puppy drove into the side of me. I left the car in but now I have it back the colour of the door isn't the same as the rest of the car. Well, I thought it was the colour, when i took it back to show the guy he said it was the grain in in and that the colour was fine. It looks ok in the sunlight, but if its dull the door looks blacker than the rest of the car.
My car is a metallic black 2001 Clio and as far as I thought, if i left my car in to get a new door, they would give me my car back and it would look the same as before.
So, has anyone any idea whether I'm expecting too much or if I should be getting my car back all the one colour?
Any advice / help on this would be much appreciated!

hi if you had a new door and wing fitted they should have blended either the rear door or rear wing depending if its 3or 5 door if it was done through the insurance i would have thought the insurance company would have allowed for this ,if your not happy with the colour take it back, a freshly lacquered panel will allways look slighty brighter and more so with darker colours cheers byron
hi most paint companys these days give good matchs you will get the odd one that will not match but that may be down to the car fading etc you blend metallics micas etc because like you say the flakes always lie differently so you flick the colour into the next panel then laquer over it just to take your eye off of it cheers byron

If it was done through insurance they often wont allow the body shop the extra cost to blend through the door. I'd take it back and get the insurance to pay to have it sorted. Gassing Station | Bodywork & Detailing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
