Right, whos got the best deals going then?

Done some searching, and the best I got was £30 so far which is on a 12 year old car.

I have heard that ADAC are good from the nurburgring site I looked on, but its all in German! Coincidentally, my green flag cover is up at the end of this month, but not sure I will bother renewing it!

Cheers.

The application form and T's & C's on the ADAC website is in English (download pdf). It costs €79 for full European cover which includes UK cover and homestart. It's about €90 odd for you and your partner.

I called their English speaking operative and she confirmed there are no issues with being a UK resident and having ADAC cover. They will repatriate the car to the UK. And if you break down in the UK you'll deal with the AA anyway!! And it's you that is covered not the car - and 'oldtimers' are also no problem (the car that is, not the member).

It's a no brainer. I faxed off my form today with credit card details. Should have the membership card in less than a week according to their rep.

Is it the Plus Membership you went for with ADAC ?

I'm also a member of the ACO but that cover seems well worth having in comparison to the AA cover you can get for nigh on twice the price.

I'm using good old RAC £53 for a 17 year old car - EU Extra cover. Maybe a little more but I've had to use the service a couple on times without any problems.

I Paid £117 a full years worth of AA cover. I about 6 or 7 euro jaunts a year, so in theory, proves very cost effective!

RAC for me, after breaking down in Europe twice previously their service cannot be faulted. Costs £211 for a full year but covers all of our cars and provides full recovery form pretty much anywhere in Europe and courtesy car if left stranded and you wish to continue your journey. Also paid up all the expenses incurred i.e. me returning by train to Le Mans to collect my car and additional Ferry crossing to re-patriate me and car.

My weekend Euro cover from www.insureandgo.com for a 11 year old car cost £19.27, never had to claim with them so don't know how that would turn out.

Don't buy it last minute as you get 7 days worth of cover before you go, as long as you purchase 10 days prior to departure.

I got this tip off here last year...and it saved me cash...so I thought I'd pass it on.

If your car is still under manufacturer warranty check the details because many include european breakdown.

VW/Audi/Skoda certainly provide cover for all 3 years of the warranty.
