Loan of serial cable for Nob ECU

As above, has anyone get the serial communication cable for the Noble i caould borrow for a week? It looks very easy to make one up, but i am not too skilled with a solder iron, and online they are about £40 and will take too long to get to me.
Deposit and postage i will obviously cover. Thanks. Adam

I've used a standard pin to pin cable with no bother. They are a tenner from maplin :

Mind you, I could not get it to work with a USB to serial converter, only a laptop with a 9-pin serial port.

So you plug the cable into a PC and the engine D-9pin socket - what about the software, what is it and where do you get it?

But you can still "read" right?

Not interested in fiddling with anything, just to check the sensors and check the RPM as the rev counter is supposed to be less than accurate

When I made my cable up there were resistors in the circuit which were there to stop the possibility of damaging the ECU ! So caution if you dont use them.
I use a serial to usb converter and it works ok though.
The passwords just give you more options on the dashboard !

Use a Cisco cable.

What about the resistors Ash?

If the ecu is anything like the older MBE ecus (eg the 956E one I have), the resistors are used for live mapping.

There's a mapping box you can plug into the ecu with a couple of twiddly knobs on for adjusting the load sites (saves lots of furious typing I guess).

If you're not doing any live mapping, and just plug in a plain serial cable, the resistors are there so the ecu sees a fixed value on the mapping inputs.
