Let me rephrase that.
I want these guys to make me one similar to the one on the left but with the reverse gate shown on the one on the right.

The only way I can think of to get the alignment of the gear lever in all positions is to get a piece of card with a big hole cut out of it and put this over the lever and shift into each gear marking the lever position in each gear. Then use this to make another template (more likely a good few though) from card or grp with the slots cut out. Then shape the edge to fit the console hole

I guess the new gate will need something to attach it to the console.

So can anyone come up with a better idea than this for creating the card/grp template and a how to attach it to the console, preferably as a flush fit but I can't see how that would be possible.

I'd think that would look kinda weird in the standard console. I mean it's OK for Ferraris and their 'kit car' flat centre consoles but not really in keeping with the curvy design of the Griff console.

IMO of course smile

It is curved as in the edges are round and there are no corners, but it lay's flat. (if that makes any sense)
