Has anyone got any experience of storing a 997 C2S for six months? Normally I would get someone to take the car out every two weeks for a drive and check all that it's all fine, but I cannot for a number of reasons.

So, the car will be stored in a dry, locked garage. I would guess that water, oil, tyres, battery, alarm and tracker may all need attention. Is this simple enough or is it a case of off to an OPC/indie and hand over some cash???

Ta! Oh, and no, I am not going to jail, driving ban or anything like that - it's a business assignment...

Alternatively, since the cost of carry will be about £800 - £1000 per month - any takers for a Cobalt blue 997 C2S with 8000 miles - all perfect condition. May be cheaper to sell any buy something else when I get back...

I've got a spare secure underground space in London and fully comprehensive any vehicle insurance cover.

You can (seriously) leave it with me if you like. I'll babysit it and we can have a written agreement that I won't put more than 500 miles on it over the six months and I'll be responsible for any damage or mishaps.

Fast enough for little old me (I drive like a girl)

and as for 'pussy'...well I have a 9 month pregnant wife at home-so any diversion is a welcome one (the car I meant-not what Ves was alluding to!)

Put it with an indie on sale or return, hopefully he will sell it for you. If not it will be stored securely and you get it back when you return (for a pre agreed amount)

Best to sell it or lend it to someone you trust to run it occasionally

They lose somewhere between £600 and £800 a month in book value. Also cars that have been stored are sometimes looked upon suspiciously when it comes to selling on – partly because they could have suffered under storage conditions (brake sized, flat spots on tyres etc) and also “been stored” is often a term used by unscrupulous clockers when they is a gap in a cars history or no mileage seems to have been added for a long period.

Saying all that I am completely biased because I am in the market for another car and a blue 997 S would fit the bill nicely - year ??

I'm serious.

I'll store it for you. I'll exercise it once a week. I've got an underground secure space with CCTV and fully comp on any vehicle under Chubb Masterpiece Insurance.

Do they really lose that much! I am also in the market for a used one but didn't think the depreciation would be that much on a used (1 or 2 years) 997. I only lost £2k on my last 996 over a year?
