Done something really dumb and have tried to remove the dealer's sticker off my 986 Boxster's plastic rear screen

I used a sponge soaked in washing up liquid to try and remove the adhesive. Yes, the adhesive is still there and the area that I rubbed has gone milky / opaque / scratched. Now wish I'd never touched it in the first place !

Has anyone any experience on how to 'restore' the clarity to the plastic ?

First remove the glue with something like brake cleaner. Then you ideally need something called "Hindsight" - they advertise in Porsche Post and/or 911 World. This is basically polishes with different grades of coarseness. I remember reading years ago in a classic car club mag that T-cut will work, then finer polish etc.

Whatever you use, I think you'll need another element - plenty of elbow grease!!

Brake cleaner on plastic? Are you sure? I've used white spirit to remove manufacturers decal adhesive in the past.

Renovo do one which definitely works for getting rid of the micro scratches that cause the milkyness. I used it on my 996 and it came up a treat.

Hindsight definitely works. I used it on the wife's Z3 - amazing results. It is expensive but worth it. Also, to get rid of any sticky stuff on anything just spray it with WD40 and give it a rub.

Seconded - although a slightly different application for me - removing scratches to my new kitchen units after the cleaner had attacked them with a scouring pad!
