Fuel problem

Please can someone help me? I have 350i wedge and it was running fine but it cut out and wont start now. I think it is a fuel problem because I have put 12v on to the pump, and it is not working. Is this correct or not. Also I have unplugged the pump and plugged a 12v bulb in to see if I am getting volage, this is not working either. It might be because I have checked the relays and put them in the wrong holes, if you could let me know where the bosh ones go it would be so helpful.

Any help would be very greatly received

However, my fuse box lay out is slightly different!
In your pic is one of the gold relays for the fuel pump? What are the two Bosh ones for?

your pump will not run with just the ignition on, you need to be cranking it over, sounds more like the pump if you put voltage to it and it didn't run

One little test you can do is to moove the flap in the airflow meter with the ignition on. This should turn the pump on. Had this exact problem myself a few weeks ago, turned out to be the wiring to the pump had broken where it runs under the car.

Yes that works so what dose that mean I have a new pump on the way. when this is fitted will it work or do i have a broken wire as well.

So you have ignition on, and the pump does not switch on when you moove the flap in the airflow meter? Is that what your saying?

well I have a bulb pluged in to where the pump goes because the pump is faulty. I have put a screw driver in to the air flow meter to hold it open and turned the car over the bulb lights up.I hope this makes sense.

Turn the relay panel over so you can read the wire colours. The fuel pump relay will (or should) have a thick white and a thick white/violet. Pull the relay out and stick a short length of wire in to link those two wires. Turn the igniition on. The pump should now run.

thanks for that the pump works fine but still dose not start. What colours are the wires to the (MR) master relay.
