Interesting problem....
I did enquire down under if the screens could be re-programmed to get rid of teh Vauxhall on the display, and replace with Holden, and while they can, its not something thats easily done. ( ie not cheap either )
Might be worth asking this on all the forums.
www.ls1.com.au
www.ls1gto.com
and of course ls1tech
there are no doubt others, but they are the biggest hitters.
Given teh work done, and the fact there is no ABS on the car at all ? surely they could ignore the fault light ?
Although the odd thing about ABS and MOT....ALL they actually check is for the prescence, and function of the damn fault light !!!!
It doesnt actually matter if the ABS is there, or even works !

Agreed, just pull power to the LCD and be done with it. Plug it back in afterwards.
The BCM controls the ABS normally, god knows what it wants to see. You could get a holden workshop manual and read over the diag routines. You might find something like a diode or resister in the right place is enough.
But my vote is to cut power to the LCD

Oh on this forum (http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/) there is a really good auto electrician that knows loads about the holdens and the bcm etc.
Worth searching for stuff on instrument clusters and speedo's if you really want to go down that route.

I thought about unplugging the LCD....but then no mileage will appear ??
I imagine the MOT tester will want to see a milage readout ?
Givent dash display really isnt that important...coudlnt you just chuck in the Astra clocks for the MOT ? Its not as if anything needs to actually work aside from the speedo.
And if he doesnt do a road test...he wont know it doesnt work.

Thanks guys.
I`ve been told on astra-sport, it can be reprogrammed thru Tech2 using the tech2 unit with add on software called CANDi (Controller Area Network Diagnostics interface)
Does anyone know anything about this ?
Thanks

THE CANDi is the hardware interface that lets the Tech2 communicate on a CAN bus.
You'll definately need the CANDi box but you'll also need the Tech2 software for the GTO the dash came from originally.
When you have all this you'll have to hope that ABS was an option and you can turn it off in the dash.
The problem might possibly be the engine controller looking for the ABS unit and when it finds it's not there it sends an error code to the dash.
Maybe the answer is in the ECU software
Cheers
