'Good Garage' Scheme
Will self regulation improve the reputation of the motor trade?
Discussion
Yawn... This will have no effect if it's not introduced as legislation because the cowboy garages will simply not sign up to it. Or if it's got no teeth garages will just ignore it.
Wasn’t there an industry-regulated code of practice drawn up recently for Lawyers and one for Estate Agents? I don't see that these industries have become bastions of model customer service overnight

Nope,,, there dirty stinking slimey thieving twats, I got a car from (mention no names but that big import outfit from Slough brand new with less than 100 miles on the clock and about 9000 miles worth of wear, it was so bad the rear shocks were worn out..they tried to tell me the tyre wear was me twiddling the steering wheel at traffic lights for Fuks sake
It's strange isn't it that most new cars now have very simple servicing requirements, often just change the oil and filter and check everything else, like brake pads, fluid levels, tyres and that's it.
No ignition timing to adjust (i.e. contact points), grease nipples (ahem), tappets etc etc - but the cost is just as much a rip off.

I'm still reeling from an undercover report one of the bike mags did (Ride Magazine) on motorbike garages.
The results were shocking. One place said the engine needed a bottom end rebuild (it didn't) and another let it out the workshop with a few MOT failures on it.
And they all charged for a complete service.
I can only assume the same is happening in the car world as, as I see no reason why it wouldn't be.
Garages need to clean their act up.
